BLAZING KISS, NATURALLY A FLYER AND SPECTACULAR MOTION WORK FOR MAGIC MILLIONS
Some tough competition awaited the three, on the Magic Millions day. But it didn't faze them, because they were tough competition, too. Nattie and Motion were coming off wins, and Blazing Kiss a second place. Kiss was due to run in the Magic Millions Fillies Turf Sprint, while Naturally A Flyer and Spectacular Motion were to run in the Magic Millions Fillies Turf.
They began their warmup at a trot. Blaze rode Blazing Kiss, Stella rode Naturally A Flyer and Olivia rode Spectacular Motion. The Magic Millions Fillies Turf was ten furlongs on turf, and the Magic Millions Fillies Turf Sprint was six furlongs on turf. Both races were for two year old fillies only. Blazing Kiss was lucky, having only two other fillies in her race. They were Flyin Out Loud and Innocent Passion. Flyin Out Loud was from Silver Stride Stables, and had three races experience with a record of 3-1-1-1. She was out of Flying Loose, a grade one mare who was the dam of grade one Hall Of Fame mare Simply A Flyer, grade three mare Loose Truth, and grade three stallion Winged Romeo. Flyin Out Loud's sire was Cryin Out Loud, a grade one stallion whose first foal crop were beginning their first racing seasons.
The three broke into canter as cued by their riders. Nattie flicked up her heels on the second canter stride, presumably to indicate how glad she was to be allowed to go faster. Innocent Passion was from Stride Of Perfection Stables, and was the most experienced in the small field with six starts, for a record of 6-3-1-2. The filly was by Passionate Class and out of Little Miss Innocent, both excellent grade one turf ex racehorses, and so was related to the likes of Passionate Flyer, The Innocent Skier, Beltane and Axis Mundae. Blazing Kiss herself had a record of 4-2-1-0, and was by G2 Memorial's Blaze and out of G4 Stolen Kisses (Gold Edition x Fire Wings). Flyin Out Loud was a front runner, Innocent Passion a preceder and Blazing Kiss a mid packer, so there would be no issue with race positions for anyone.
They were to do just an easy six furlong gallop today, to release excess energy and wet appetites. No racing - that had to wait until the actual race day. The three fillies switched to gallop with boundless energy. Naturally A Flyer and Spectacular Motion's race was a fuller field. There were four other fillies to contend with. Gate one would hold Intrepid Racing's Nightshade, who had run 8 times for four wins and four seconds. Passion Heart from Bowen Acres had started twice for a third and fifth, and would be starting from gate two.
Ventura had gate three. The Rising Fury and Impressario filly had a record of 7-3-2-2. Then there was Bella Luna, a filly they had not heard of before. She was from Witch Creek Stables and had a record of 8-1-2-2. Naturally A Flyer had gate five, and The Natural x Simply A Flyer filly had a record of 4-1-0-1. Her most recent start had resulted in her maiden win. Spectacular Motion was the last in the field in gate six. The Spitz x Striking Motion filly also had a record of 4-1-0-1 and was coming off her maiden win.
As for how the race would play out, well, Passion Heart was a frontrunner and Spectacular Motion could also set the pace, but would most probably run behind or beside her. Ventura, Bella Luna and Naturally A Flyer were also preceders, which ment there would probably be a pile up in that position. Nightshade was the only closer in the field, and would only have the issue of going wide around the mass of stalkers/preceders in the final turn and stretch.
